I am recently retired and had been noticing tinnitus and not hearing as well from one of my ears. My family has a history of hearing loss. I watched my mother struggle with hearing loss that progressively led to not participating in social interactions and many other difficulties until her death. I was determined not to repeat mistakes I have seen many family and friends make by not seeking professional assistance. I want to thank Dr. Megan Booth for her practice and professionalism at Hear In Arizona!
Dr. Booth is focused on providing the best care, information, and solutions for hearing loss based on her patients needs. She is not a salesperson for a particular brand of hearing aides. After our initial meeting and audiogram, she noticed that my hearing loss could be genetic and referred me to ENT doctors. The doctor confirmed my genetic hearing loss and immediately approved Rx hearing aides.
What I learned from my experience is that: 1) Tinnitus is the first sign of permanent hearing loss! As soon as you notice any tinnitus go see an audiologist! 2) Do what I did and research the audiologist you are going to see. Dr. Booth has an Au.D. in the hearing loss and this is critical because she understands how the auditory system works with the brain. 3) Do your own research on all of the brands of hearing aides that there are in the market. Research includes reading scientific papers on how the brain processes hearing and how hearing aids amplify the specific tone/ranges to assist in hearing.
After my research, I agreed with Dr. Booth on her recommendation for a brand of hearing aide for my specific hearing needs. My day one with my new hearing aids was a brand new day! I had not realized how much hearing loss I had been enduring. I was uncomfortable in social situations with large groups of people because I could not follow the conversation. I was also constantly turning the TV or radio volume higher to hear the dialogue. I would ask people to speak louder or repeat what they had said. On day one of my hearing aids I was turning down the volume on the TV and radio because it was so loud! I found myself asking my husband to lower his voice and not talk so loud.
After a month with my new hearing aids, I am back enjoying socializing with groups of people and able to hear everyone at a normal voice level! I can even hear conversations from another table at a restaurant, instead of just background noise. I am now a hearing aid advocate! If you are experiencing hearing loss, don’t wait make an appointment with an audiologist and my recommendation is Dr. Megan Booth.

Megan has been very responsive to my hearing needs and has guided me through upgrading my old hearing aids to new ones that are much more technologically advanced and better for me, without being “pushy.” Whenever I have needed help in the past, she has always been very helpful. I would highly recommend her as an audiologist. .

I appreciate Megan’s ability to explain what is happening within my ears and how I can work with my hearing aid to support better hearing.

My husband and I have been very pleased with Dr. Booth’s professionalism, knowledge and patience. We have never felt rushed and she takes time to thoroughly examine and explain. We feel fortunate that she has chosen to practice audiology in the village.

Adapting to hearing aids is a process, both mental and physical. Dr. Booth assessed my hearing and gave me an excellent sense of the cause of my hearing loss and best options to help restore it. She worked closely with me over a series of appointments to optimize my hearing aids and set realistic expectations. I now hear much better and feel more engaged with family, friends and life. Highly recommend!

Thank you so much Dr. Kelley for a very nice experience at your office a few weeks ago. I appreciate the time you took when reviewing my hearing test results and explaining them in a way I could understand. I am so glad there is an audiologist close by my home that I feel comfortable with…thank you!

I wanted to say a big “thank you” for fitting me with my custom-made musicians plugs. They are very comfortable and enable me to hear my guitar and other instruments clearly, while protecting my hearing. I am going to be sending the other members of my band to you! Again, thanks for helping me.
